The role:
Main duties and responsibilities of the role include:
- Conducting insolvency monitoring visits to Chartered Accountant Ireland member firms through a combination of on-site visits and remote desktop reviews.
- Reviewing firms’ processes and procedures in relation to practicing activities.
- Reviewing firms’ compliance with the Institute’s rules and regulations, legislative requirements, and Statements of Insolvency Practice and anti-money laundering provisions.
- Critical assessment of the work carried out by practicing firms including judgements made by principals on key issues, including investigations, asset realisations and director’s conduct.
- Interviews with principals and other team members.
- Reporting on the visit including findings and recommendations to the firms.
- Adding value by making recommendations to firms aimed at improving quality.
Training and support:
- An induction and training programme will be provided to assist the successful candidate to develop the skills and additional technical knowledge required by the role enhancing their own knowledge and experience.
- The induction training programme will give the successful candidate the skills and confidence to carry out the visits on their own through shadowing an existing inspector on visits and continued support from the rest of the team.
Home based when not conducting on-site monitoring visits:
- Our inspectors are home based when planning visits, writing reports post visits and other administrative duties.
The candidate:
Required competencies
- The successful candidate must be a member of a Recognised Accountancy or Insolvency Professional Body with a minimum of 5 years’ post qualification experience in an insolvency practice or a regulatory environment providing relevant experience.
- An excellent knowledge of insolvency legislation, statements of insolvency practice, professional, technical, and ethical standards together with excellent organisational, communication and influencing skills and a good level of IT literacy will be required.
- A CAI Diploma in Insolvency or Joint Insolvency Examination Board qualification is desirable but not essential.
- The candidate should be able to demonstrate an ability of communicating effectively on sensitive matters with credibility at all levels.
Personal profile:
- Experience of report writing for technical and other professional audiences.
- The candidate must be capable of working on their own initiative. They must be able to take ownership of the role and be capable of making key decisions while also actively collaborating within a team focused on results and targets.
- Have an analytical and process-driven approach, while being capable of exercising judgement.
- A strong focus on attention to detail and results is required.
- An ability to take on new duties and support others when required within the team.
- Experience of management of multiple deadlines.
- The candidate must be highly motivated and resilient.
- Requirement to travel (predominantly within island of Ireland) – full clean driver’s license.
