Chartered Accountants Ireland has taken the decision to no longer print and issue branded member diaries. We know that diaries have remained popular with some of our members over many years, but this demand continues to diminish in an increasingly digital-first world.
Digitalisation forms a key part of the Institute’s Strategy27 as well as our commitment to reducing carbon emissions. This commitment is already ongoing through the migration of our flagship publication Accountancy Ireland to a digital format earlier this year, the move in 2024 of CAP1 textbooks to an e-book format, all hosted on the Institute’s learning hub, as well as the digitalisation of an increasing amount of our CPD. The discontinuation of pocket diaries is a logical continuation toward this aim of reducing our environmental impact.
The Institute has made a charitable donation to CA Support in lieu of producing the member diaries, and we know that this will be a valued and effective gesture. In 2024, CA Support experienced an 18% increase in cases, and at any given time, the service helps more than 100 members and families, facing challenges including redundancy, illness, medical expenses, cost of living pressures, and back-to-school costs.
