Revenue extends dual running of AIS and AEP declaration system
Revenue confirmed that the Automated Import System (AIS) and the Automated Entry Processing (AEP) declaration system for imports will run in parallel until 31 March 2021. Revenue’s decision to extend the dual running of the two systems beyond 15 December has arisen in recognition of the challenging environment for businesses both in terms of Brexit and COVID-19.
AIS is Revenue’s new customs declaration system, which reflects all the legal requirements of the EU Union Customs Code (UCC) and is designed to replace the Automated Entry Processing (AEP) declaration system for imports.
Revenue is encouraging all businesses to utilise the extension to complete their transition to AIS well ahead of the 31 March 2021 deadline.
Further information on the extension can be found on the Revenue website.
